SNSD’s Hyoyeon wears a big skirt: “Did she lose weight?”

SNSD’s Hyoyeon is getting a lot of attention thanks to her big skirt.

On June 26, Hyoyeon appeared at the ’12 F/W New Collection’ for casual brand 96ny holding her skirt so that it wouldn’t fall down.

Hyoyeon wore a white shirt and blue mini skirt but she had to hold up her skirt while walking to attend the photo wall event. Pictures of her grabbing her skirt spread online and made people feel sorry for her. They said, “I think she lost weight since she has been practicing hard for Dancing with the Stars.”

Besides Hyoyeon, SNSD’s Seohyun and actresses Kim Hee Ae and Park Si Yeon attended the event.

The Wonder Girls say, “We and SNSD mentally support each other”

The Wonder Girls said they could relate to SNSD, who are often mentioned as the Wonder Girls’ rival.

In the episode of TV Chosun’s Entertainment in TV-the TREND that will air on June 30, the Wonder Girls will frankly give their thoughts on SNSD.

At the interview, Ye Eun said, “Because we debuted around the same time, we could relate to each other. So we call and see each other often.”

The Wonder Girls also said they often send text messages and give phone calls to SNSD.

Sun Ye said, “Because we debuted around the same time, we mentally support each other.”

The Wonder Girls and SNSD both debuted in 2007.

Han Ji-min takes Mnet drama award

Actress Han Ji-min won the “20’s Drama Star” prize at Mnet’s 20’s Choice Awards on Thursday at the Banyan Tree Club and Spa in central Seoul.

The awards, which are determined by netizens from six locales, cited Han’s work in the drama “Rooftop Prince.”

Han emerged onto the stage in the club’s pool area to claim her prize and thanked “the staff and actors who took part in the drama.” Han said she was grateful for the award and that she plans to continue to strive to become a better actress.

Others nominees in the category were Yoona from Girls’ Generation, Ha Ji-won, Shin Se-kyung and Jung Ryeo-won.

The award show, which is in its sixth year, gave out awards in 20 categories. Fans from Korea and abroad voted online, while agencies and industry experts also took part in various surveys.

Other winners included Suzy from Miss A and actors Han Hye-jin and Kim Soo-hyun. Kim won for best male drama star and “Hot Star” of the moment.

Girls’ Generation snaps up the second spot on the Oricon

Just one day after releasing the single “Paparazzi” in Japan, Girls’ Generation has secured the second spot on Oricon’s daily chart on June 26.

More than 42,525 copies of the new EP, which is being described as “surreal” and somewhat different from the band’s previous hits, were sold in less than 24 hours. The EP marks the Hallyu band’s first Japanese release in 14 months.

Ahead of the EP’s release, a promotional teaser video for the song was made public, arousing much interest among fans as it featured the Hallyu girl group decked out in trench coats and being chased by the paparazzi.

Just over a week ago, the nine-member girl group was voted the “girl group with the best dance moves” by users on Japanese mobile phone ringtone Web site Recochoku.com.

Japanese netizens gushed over the Korean girl group, calling its members “stylish” and “in perfect sync with one another.”
